In the last 3-4 years, a new pattern of recruitment has been observed in Bangladesh, especially in private corporations. The rate of enrollment of retired military officers, especially in HR sectors, has increased drastically.
Nowadays, most of the retired military officers are pursuing MBA and other business-related studies. Their academic record and previous service experience make them a preferred choice for corporations. While university graduates may perform better in exams, they generally lack experience.
Furthermore, company authorities have noticed that these military personnel play a significant role in navigating government processes compared to fresh graduates. This is undoubtedly beneficial for corporations, leading recruiting boards to favor military officers more. How does the situation compare in India? Do military personnel maintain good service records after retirement?

Dear Sborhan,
I am an Army Officer myself; therefore, what I say here may not be without prejudice. Army Officers in India are also doing quite well. However, in India, most Officers are opting for corporate jobs after taking premature release. Officers can excel even without an MBA. The kind of experience they possess enables them to perform exceptionally well in the corporate sector, not just in HR but also in Administration. They have excellent organizational abilities and have been quite successful in strategic planning as well.
Many officers are pursuing an MBA degree to ensure a successful post-retirement career, and with this qualification, they can thrive in any field.
This should not be perceived as encroaching on the prospects of younger individuals; they have their own domain. They bring their own positive aspects to the table with fresh thinking. I can assure you that working alongside an Army Officer provides a valuable learning experience.
All the best,
Loveindra Chadha

Hi Sborhan,
I wholeheartedly agree with what the colonel has stated. I have known many peers who have taken premature retirement from the defense sector. They are highly disciplined, adept at man management, and very effective in strategizing and planning. Working alongside them has been a pleasure, and you definitely learn a lot from their experience.

Krishnan
