Can anyone help me with how to run the MBO (Management By Objectives) appraisal system? What forms and steps should be involved in conducting this appraisal? I have job descriptions for the entire staff with me. The issue is how to use them for the appraisal.

Just to provide some background on my company, it is an IT firm with 100 employees. They do not have a proper HR setup, policies, or performance management system. All tasks are currently managed on an ad hoc basis. Since there is no existing HR structure, should I proceed with MBO, or is there another appraisal system more suitable for this situation?

Thanks,

Like Ed says, it requires professionals to set it up. I suggest that you read about it by searching the web to understand what is involved and the problems that you could encounter. For example, I found this site by searching BOLA: Staff Appraisal at http://www.bola.biz/appraisal/mbo.html.

Have a nice day.

Hello Simhan,

Thank you for the site - BOLA: Staff Appraisal. My company is now trying a new method to appraise employees' performance by projects, which is similar to MbO. This site has made it easier for me to explain to line managers how to go about doing this. Thank you very much for sharing.
