We are moving back to India, and my husband is at a stage of negotiating compensation with a telecom company. I would like to know if the perks (CTC minus Basic Salary) change from person to person for a given position in the company. If person A is already working in the same position for which my husband is hired, would the perks, et al., be the same for both individuals?

Thanks for any response.

Hi Manika,

The CTC can vary from person to person in the same organization depending upon last drawn salary, competency level, etc. To be honest, companies will always want to have the best talents at the least possible CTC structures. However, companies might stick to certain package details decided as per budget. For HR Managers, for example, a company might fix a scale from 2.5 Lacs to 3.5 Lacs P.A. The offered salary may vary within this range depending upon certain parameters as deemed fit by the organization. I would also like to add that for PSUs and Government bodies, salary structures are not different for the same positions. It is as per Government mandates.

Hope this helps! If you differ, then please let me know your opinions.

Partha.

I think Partha has replied to this question in a very precise and correct way. For a position, perks generally do not change from person to person. But salary varies within a band, as a result of which total CTC also varies within a band.

In Govt Departments also, for a designation, salary varies within a band. Therefore, this phenomenon is not limited to Private Companies only.
