I have applied for Earned Leave (EL) on the grounds of Child Care Leave as I have sufficient leave in my EL account for 116 days. My daughter is 5 years old, and there is nobody in my home to take care of her. I applied well in advance, one month before, and I am working as an Upper Division Clerk (UDC) in the Central Government organization. However, the authorities are not sanctioning the leave. What is the procedure so that the leave can get sanctioned?

"Child Care Leave" is a special leave that is granted subsequent to Maternity Leave, either in continuation or without continuation; however, in most cases, it is admissible ONLY until the child attains the age of two years.
Please verify your Leave Rules to confirm this. In your case, since your child is already 5 years old, Child Care Leave may not be admissible, and thus the sanction of leave may not have taken place so far. However, you are free to apply for your Earned Leave and avail it after prior sanction.
