To All,

I am in the process of starting an HR Consultancy with my husband's HR background. I am mainly interested in areas like Recruitment and Training. Is this correct? What are the steps to be followed? Any special suggestions?

Hi,

Good to have another player in the fray!!!

Regarding the service offerings -

I am unsure of your background and hence cannot make a comment. In general, the best way to manage the business is to focus on your core competency and functional knowledge base.

Recruitment

You are a very late player in the market and hence you will face lots of hiccups in terms of establishing yourself in the market. The sales cycle by itself is risky and frustrating; it will test your patience for sure.

To manage - companies can become your clients if you know the right people to start up the operations for yourself. Your initial business will thrive only on your contacts.

Look for the following things:

Are the requirements huge and generic?

If they are too generic, your chances of closing too many profiles are possible and bleak due to the presence of many competitors.

Training

Another area where all can get something out of it. But how?

In both cases, remember one thing:

You need to carve a niche - how do you differentiate from the rest?

What is your value addition in the process?

It's going to be a pure game of contacts and networking to gain visibility.

Always think of one thing - collaborating rather than competing to make an entry and sustain - once you are known for your quality of delivery, you are in.

All the best!!!!!!

Dear Jaya Lakshmi,

I read your posting regarding the setting up of your own consultancy. I am also planning to start a new manpower firm. Can you please help me with the process? How exactly did you start and what is the process you followed, etc.? Kindly provide me with this information. I would be very grateful to you.

Looking forward to your reply.

I am also in the process of starting a BPO job consultancy. Actually, I have over 5 years of experience working in top BPOs, but I have no idea how to approach the recruiter to conduct the interview in my consultancy. I am familiar with the format of interviews conducted by different BPOs.

I want to know if you have already started or are in the process. If you have already started, could you please tell me how to approach the recruiter? If you agree, we can jointly operate two offices simultaneously, as my friend has a complete office setup, and I have a good database of candidates working in the BPO sector.
