Your question itself contains the answer. I think all you need to collect is what pay package Mr. James Richards is currently receiving and build your package based on the same. You may have to take into consideration some constraints put up by your company's pay policy, but that would be a minor issue and can be worked out. As the interview is already over, you must have his current pay structure and details. What exact information are you looking for?
