Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum, and I am doing my summer internship for which I'm preparing a project on determining the leadership potential of a company. I have designed a questionnaire but don't know how to analyze it. Can you all help me with this?

Hello Vanita,

You should have designed the questionnaire after deciding how to analyze findings based on your objectives and hypotheses to prove. However, do post the questionnaire so that we could see what you have done and give you some constructive feedback.

Have a nice day.

Dear Vanita,

Since you have already designed the questionnaire, you have to decide how the data can be analyzed. Just try to divide the data through various viewpoints, categories, areas, teams, departments, layers of administrative structures, and others you can decide from the company's HR structure. Group them, regroup them. You may come across a few interesting findings.

These data can be put into different perspectives in the form of reports/analysis. Actually, you should talk to different HODs to find out shortcomings and focus on a few topics.

All the best.

Hello everyone,

I have taken a questionnaire on determining leadership potential, which I have attached below. I have filled it out and attempted to analyze it. Please check if I have done it correctly and also suggest suitable recommendations that I could propose and actions that could be taken. I would be very grateful.

Hi Vanita,

Your analysis part is good, but let me clarify, what is the objective of this study? Have you made any hypotheses? What are the suggestions you made out of this study? Let me know so that I could help you in a better way.

Hello Vanita,

I wish you had piloted the questionnaire before administering it. You do not seem to have collected any demographic data. In the absence of such data, you can only report what you found overall and will not be able to analyze them further by department, gender, age groups, etc. May I know how many respondents answered the questionnaire? How do you determine that the items in a group belong to that group? If you conduct a factor analysis using SPSS, you may be able to assess that.

I have not seen all the tables attached. This comment is based on viewing the first two: questionnaire and Table 1.

Have a nice day.

Hi Chum,

First of all, thank you for your reply. Since it is clear from the graphs that most of the people who have been analyzed lie in the moderately strong area of leadership, there is a need to enhance their leadership skills through training activities. Could you suggest any ways for it and whether I have to make different suggestions for people of different grades? Thank you again.

Hello Sir,

Thank you for your reply. Actually, I have a project titled "Determine the leadership potential of Employees from Grade E1 to E4." E1 grade implies Engineer trainee, E2 implies Sr. engineers, E3 implies deputy manager, and E4 implies Managers.

The work I have done includes designing the questionnaire, circulating it, and collecting responses. I have analyzed the data by plotting different graphs for each question. I have grouped these questions under three sub-headings: communication, teamwork, and future orientation. From the graphs, I have observed that most people fall in the moderately strong zone.

I would like to know the inferences I could draw from this data and any suggestions you may have. Your valuable assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I am currently stuck and would be grateful for your help.

Hello Ranjan,

Could you kindly send me an Excel or SPSS file with the questions at the top, including the grade, and the respondents along the rows, and their respective answers in the corresponding cells? The files you have attached give only the summarized data and not the raw data. Then, I can analyze the responses the way I do and send you the files.

Have a nice day.

Hi Vanita,

If I am right, you are trying to do competency mapping for a particular skill (Leadership). Your analysis part is good, but what you made was an analysis on the existing skill matrix. Try to get the required skill level in each grade, which the company may have or check out for benchmarking skill levels. By doing that, compare the existing skill level with the benchmark, and you will be able to identify the gap between the two. Then analyze the reason behind the gap and provide suggestions to overcome it. I hope this will help you. If you have any more queries, feel free to post them. Keep rocking! 😊

Vanita,

Could you suggest any ways for this and whether I have to make different suggestions for people of different grades as well? Thank you again.
