Hi Seniors,
Please guide me. I was on maternity leave and now have been granted a one-month extension. However, I have been informed that roles have been changed in my absence, and currently, there is no role left for me.
I am now concerned whether the company can ask me to resign or if they can request me to leave. Is it legal to do so according to the maternity act?

Dear Bharti,
An additional one month of leave is allowed for illness due to pregnancy, delivery, miscarriage, or premature birth. However, the doctor has to provide this information in writing. Basically, your services should not be terminated on these grounds. If the management does so, it will be deemed illegal.
Yours sincerely,
