Hi friends,
Can anybody help me in understanding the difference between a Memo and a Show Cause Notice? If possible, please provide me with model drafts for both as I urgently need them.

Memo is said to include all circulars whether issued to a particular employee alone or to a group of employees and even to all the employees of an establishment. It need not be (I repeat, not necessarily be) a kind of instrument drawing the attention of an employee to his negativity, yet, depending upon the internal culture of the establishment, it may be construed as synonymous with a Charge Sheet also. In certain cases, a memo will be issued as a warning letter, whereas a charge sheet is issued if the memo issued fails to bring in any progress. Usually, a charge sheet is issued as an initial step in conducting disciplinary action against the employee. In some organizations, a memo will be served only to employees of supervisory categories, whereas a charge sheet is issued to workmen. However, there is no specific ruling in support of this treatment.
A Show Cause notice is a notice issued calling on the employee to show cause 'why action should not be taken' against him. Here also, the nature of the establishment has an important bearing on its treatment. It shall replace even a memo or charge sheet and at the same time, it may be issued as the remote chance of defending the final verdict of the inquiry.
