Dear Cite HR Members,

Read a story below. An excellent story that explains how to achieve success from failure or how to find positivity in negative surroundings. Read it & get me your views.

One day, a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL:

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up. Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from God.

Good Day & Happy Working!!

Simple yet shows the best of a positive attitude and "Take it in your stride" kind of attitude. We often blame people, circumstances, and our limitations for not being able to cope with negative people and their attitude. Well, it's worth learning and implementing to gain from adversity. I will surely try the five steps for happiness. Keep posting. :)

This donkey's story has helped me refresh my belief in shaking off the dirt when meeting the challenges of life. I often narrate this story as a way of motivating people around me. Go ahead, meet the challenges.

Indeed, a good morale booster for people like me who are trying to join HR after 16 years of service in the Indian Air Force. I would like to see more motivating articles like this in the future.

Hi,

This is very nice. It's like one should never fail to try, rather try and fail. If the donkey was sitting lazily, it would not have come out. Your story is very inspirational and boosts the never-fail attitude.

Thanks,
Ravi

Thanks. Another moral here is that even though there are many ways to fill the well, opting for sand has resulted in the well being closed. This may have led to not having water for certain purposes. Therefore, using this method to bring out the donkey was foolish. Another moral is that one should not close all facilities for the benefit of one.
