Hi Friends,

I have one query related to the above subject. One of my colleagues has applied for LTA for the previous year, i.e., for 2007, but his request was declined. The HR person gave the explanation that as he has claimed full leave encashment, he is not eligible to claim for the LTA.

Note: The LTA package is included in our CTC, and we can claim this year's LTA the following year only. Therefore, it is not included in our monthly package.

According to me, the LTA is in our CTC package, and we are entitled to receive the LTA whether or not we apply for leave encashment.

Please advise me if I am wrong.

Thanks,
Viji

Dear Viji,

Please let me know what the policy is for claiming LTA. Please note that every organization gives LTA after confirmation of the services or on completion of one year in the organization. For claiming LTA, you have to take leave for 3 days in advance, and after resuming the office, you can claim that LTA.

I am surprised to see how an organization can encash whole leaves to an employee and what the policy of encashment of leave is. Please also confirm from your HR department then we can decide how you can claim this LTA. However, after all, LTA is a part of your salary package, and the company cannot say NO. Also, I can imagine how the HR department of this organization is running. This will create dissatisfaction among the employees, and an employee can leave the organization if they are not treated well.

Gyan

Hello Vijitha,

I am attaching two files. You can go through them to understand what LTA actually means.

You would be entitled to LTA only if you take a leave from your office and actually travel. However, before traveling, if you exhaust all your leave balance, then you would no longer be able to enjoy the LTA.

Hi,

Really nice document, but as you mentioned about the blocks that "only 2 LTAs can be claimed in one block," I would like to know if there is any government rule or act for LTA that states this. Can you provide me with some links for the acts?

We have LTA practices on a financial year basis. Is this way of giving LTA incorrect?

Your early response will be highly appreciated.
