Dear All,

My organization is looking for a Trainer/Faculty in Hay's Method of Job Evaluation. I would be highly obliged if you could share any reference material, faculty profiles, or institute names in the Indian context that are involved in this highly specialized area.

Warm Regards,
Arvind.

Hi there,

Nice to read from you that your organization is interested in the Hay Job Evaluation Method. Hay is known for their world-class and globally recognized three-factor point rating job evaluation method. Could you share with me which organization you are working with, because I have a hunch in India hardly these professional and scientific methodologies appreciated by any Indian companies.

To know job evaluation, you first have to start from learning job analysis, then writing the job descriptions, and then job evaluation on a point rating scale on the following three factors of the Hay Group:
- Know How
- Problem Solving
- Accountability

These factors are further divided into sub-factors which have been distributed with points for each sub-factor.

Hay Group has their own point reference level with points levels for each job position scoring to fit into the point reference level to determine the relative worth of the job.

You have to approach the Hay Group in the Dubai Office because I doubt whether they have any office in India because these are very expensive tools hardly affordable by Indian companies. Indian job pricing technologies are based on horse trading. I have never come across an Indian company with this scientific job evaluation approach being practiced by them.

We are currently working with the Hay Group through their Dubai Office on our Gulf Salary Survey and Comprehensive Compensation Review Project, and we have a scheduled meeting with them in our office in the last week of this month. If you could provide your email ID, I can refer them to you for further information.

Secondly, I want to know why you are choosing only the Hay Group? Why are you not trying for others such as:
- Meirc
- Ernst & Young

They will also propose you better job evaluation tools compatible with your organizational and Indian market conditions; they offer more than three factors, for example, Ernst & Young has a 12-point factor and Meirc has a seven-factor job evaluation.

Further, be in touch because I am also planning to introduce a new job evaluation method for scrapping our old JE. I have to re-establish a new JE method, we will be shortly heading for new JE methods after this compensation survey probably in October last week.

Regards,

Sawant
