Dear all,

We always talk about how the interview should be conducted. What should be the Do's and Don'ts for it? Please explain "how an HR person should prepare for himself/herself while going for an interview". It is very important how we present ourselves.

Can anyone please help HR Managers prepare themselves for an interview?

I will be awaiting your response at the earliest.

Hi,

I think HR professionals are also candidates who are facing interviews. The principles or manners of facing the interview will be the same. They have to be well-dressed, communicate effectively, display good manners, etc. Though the subject matter may differ.

I have 1 year of Assistant Manager - HR experience. I am now trying for a manager position. Please provide me with some ideas on how a manager should answer during an interview. I have attended two or three interviews, but I have not been successful in cracking them.

Dear All,

When you are applying for a Manager position, you need to know the domain and the functionalities to be handled. Even if you lack experience, you should have knowledge in specific areas. Any company expects its manager to have good knowledge of all HR policies and procedures. Identify HR functions and understand the correct process for each activity. From recruitment to retirement/relieving, you should be familiar with the processes.

Recruitment/T&D/PMS: Know the process and share your experience. When asked about specific processes/policies, discuss the process/policy rather than your experiences and achievements. Your answer should be relevant to the question.

For example, if an interviewer asks, "Can you please tell me about the Performance Management System that you have worked with or can initiate for a company?" Your answer should focus on explaining the PMS process you have worked with, know, or have initiated and implemented.

Incorrect Answer: Talking about how you review the performance of employees and conduct appraisals. (For this, the question would be, "How do you review the performance of your employees?")

Format/Templates: You should be able to write/draft any format/template for all communications. For instance, employee introductions, warning emails, promotion/appreciation emails, invitation emails, and interdepartmental communications.

Be bold, professional, and proficient in communication.

Good Luck.
