Hi friends,

During an interesting chat with a set of my friends, we had a small argument - whether Event Management falls under Marketing or HR. There was also mention of examples where some HR professionals were involved in Event Management, etc. I literally got confused. I request all of you to give your suggestions on this.

Thanks,
Raji

Hi Raji,

To my knowledge, I feel event management lies within HR concerning the execution of the event, including all logistics. If the event involves marketing and promotion, expertise and personnel will be sourced from the marketing department. The HR role in such instances will primarily be a supportive one. If my understanding is incorrect, I welcome experts from the group to correct me.

With regards,
Srravani

Hi,

I feel that event management comes under the Administration/Corporate Services Department. The Marketing team should provide them with the necessary inputs to manage the entire show successfully. In fact, large companies are now hiring individuals with experience in event management in the Administration department to utilize them in such situations. However, the budget/expenses should be a part of Marketing or whichever department requests it.
