Dear HR experts
Our company is growing, we all work like a family members without any disputes from last 28 years. I would like to know whether, is it mandatory to have a employee union after reaching certain turn over limits or number of employees to meet the Government norms if any. Kindly advise.
Thanking you,

Dear Knowledge Seeker,
It is Workers/eligible Employees' prerogative to form their Union as and when they so need to do that and get it Registered under the Trade Union Act. The required No of Workers come together to register their Union when they fulfill the laid down criteria. Thats it. Turn Over or No of Workers employed in an Establishment for which the Union is being formed and registered is not relevant.

It is the right of the employees to form union upon reaching a particular strength and get the union registered under the Trade Union Act for more legal footing. No company can stop formation of union if it is formed under the Trade Union Act. However, forming such union is NOT mandatory even upon reaching the required number of workmen for formation of union.

When the company is taking care of everything to the employees, there is no necessity for formation of a Union.
Formation of Union is not compulsory.
It is always better to continue in the similar spirit with employees.
