Hi Friends,
I agree to what Purnima said above. Friends we need to understand the functionality of any Department first and the route it follows, there are several procedures, rules, regulations through which any company runs and the same is with HR Department and that too is sonewhat different fom others.
I guess there is no point blaming HR for such delays, sometimes positions are put on hold and sometimes it really happens that last minute backouts are observed and then again all the process of recruitment starts. Whatever Purnima has suggested above is true and fair.

Hi,

This is Ganesh, working in HR Department. One thing we have to understand here. Final decision will be taken by the management, not by the HR person whether appoint or not. As disclosed by some of our friends, it is true that there are so many procedures while recruiting. Your friend received a call from HR after two months to attend for personal interview. It is up to him whether to attend or not. If the job is really required, he should attend or else no need to attend for interview. If it is a small company, recruitment process will be completed in one week. If it is middle level company, it may take 15 - 30 days based on their procedures. If it is corporate level company, it may take 1-2 months. We can't say the particular reason for it. Since your friend received a call after two months, it is understood that your friend is capable. He maight be in first list or 2nd list. Please think in a positive way and advise him to attend for interview. Before joining ask him to find out the details about organisation.

Its depends on case to case. In both the cases there could be many reason of so much delay like position put on hold, Recruitment Freeze, No suitable match, Non-availability of interviewer,
And you guys are requested to not to use such kind of words on this type of forums

Hi Ravishanker!
See. The discussion has no tooth. They delayed probably because-
a. They were looking for more suitable candidates. They did not find any. If they found, they were asking for a CTC far more than the company's budget in the situation.
b. Someone joined and left.
c. The hiring plan was dropped for the meanwhile as the company was looking/ waiting for something (Quarter results, Top management approval, revision of HR policy, implementation of new pay structure, process reengineering....)
So there can be so many reasons. How can we discuss things like this??? This is like college students discussing tricks to get higher package or Mr. Marx talking about how bad these HR\management guys are.

Dear All,
Now we can stop this very debate. Yes, it has been a mistake and this chap (Ravi)should learn something from it. Well, for Nischal, waiting might be rewarding in some cases. It all depends on the company structure and system how long it takes to close a position. For an HR, it is always the priority to close a position if the right candidate with right profile is found. There is no reason why an HR should delay a selection process unnecessarily. So, please tell your friend to do little research about the company in such a case. He or she should not lose the opportunity if it is a good assignment, only to resent later on.
Warm Regards
Bina

When the company is recruiting any person there are many formalities to be completed. Sometimes, it may happen that a technical head may find certain CV interesting and he takes interview without the knowledge of HR, and if he finds him suitable he directs the CV of that person to HR. It may happen that the position is not budgetted and approved but the department head wants to recruit the person. In this case, the special sanction is required and here the time is wasted of recruiting the person. Company never think to recruit on seeing only one candidate and selecting the person. Hence, gyes, please understand the difficulties of the HR and company's in taking time to recruit and then make comments and advice. Further, somebody suggested to ask higher CTC. Company when appoints a person has to see that by recruiting on a higher salary (if the person is not capable) than the existing staff of that grade, they will not disturb the existing staff members.
Always be patient when you want to join a good company and study the company profile well.

The avilablity of jobs, and recruiting is differ concern to concern. I strongly object the words of Mr. Ravishankar, basically every one should be accepted there is some superiors on their talents in interview, they should not think they done a best one without knowing the total process. If you need that job, you can opt otherwise you can gently avoid it. They may call you even after 6 months, may be at that time you may be badly need of a job, or change.
Mr. Ravishankar must accept one thing, Candidates are avilable for each and every post. But the for the candidates still our ratio of employement is very low.
Before 30 yrs after completed very hard process of Railway SI I was selected one of 5 from 2000 candidates. But the Selection was cancelled before issuing appointment orders. We dont know what is the problem? First of all we should stop to blame others.

Dear Purnima/Ravi,
There is no meaning in arguing through mails, since you people are associated with this forum i think you both are HR Professionals, if we HR people argue like this how come we will be able to deal with the other departments, we should be in a position to deal with problems from others and not between ourselves. The Forum is been developed by our seniors in order to gain/share knowledge and information rather than arguing or fighting. Attri wanted to get some information about a HR but we are not giving him inputs rather we argue, Plz change your attitude guys. lets share and develop ourselves.
Cheers,

Hi,
Dear Friends,
There is nothing wrong in calling a candidate after 2 months.. there are many approvals is required.. they may kept the position on hold for some time also.. Without knowing the actual reasons and making comments on the company and HR is not fair.. However both the cases I do accept.
Demanding more salary is not the solution for this.. How far the same candidate is proving himself suitable for the job does matters.. Stop commenting on the HRs and start preparing for the interview and try to know the facts behing corporate activities..
I DO AGREE WITH ALL THE COMMENTS MADE BY "POORNIMA" in fact it's true.
Write me for details.. at
