Dear Abhay,
Regret to see yet no reply to your post.
Why doubt, reporting “near miss” is a leading type performance Indicator for the simple reasons that only a safety conscious and determined management could demand for seriously reporting all near misses whereas it is only a ritual for others.
Coming to the second one, I have already answered this for another posting.
Think, one falls to the same level. Chance of him sustaining a head injury is minimum. Now think of him falling from a height of 1 foot, then 2 feet, 3 feet, and so on.
Consider the severity in each case. Serious research is done on this in the past and it continues.
Head injuries/Severity/fatality in cases of fall from a height over 1.8 meters is alarming whereas around 1.2 meters is very few or negligible.
On the basis of research findings only the height 1.8 meters for fall protection is mandated.
Hope you have the answer now.

Dear Sir
Simple, yet clarifying explanation.
Thanks for the participation.
I would really like to participate in this forum very actively as like in past if seniors like you there to support and correct any wrong information supplied.
Nowadays come up with lot of practical issues which needs support and guidance... Earlier days used to feel that CiteHR is an assured platform from where I can expect some response... But nowadays not even feeling to post here, because normally not get any responses...
Dear All
I really look forward to hear the views of other forum members... Lets try to make it active again, especially the safety forum... If not with a solution, at least with a concern as such "Yes, I would also like to know about this" people come forward and participate in individual thread, it will definitely makes a difference...
