Hello Anagha,

You may organize few enjoyable but educative programs for your staff which would also be helpful in their day to day work. e.g. some funny programs that improves their speaking, listening, non-verbal communication, interpersonal communication etc.

1. For instance, prepare chits with questions like What is their goal in life ? What do they think about Teamwork ? Their Inspiration ? Their ideal leader ? Their dream vacation ? and so on... They initially might hesitate to come forward but later on will enjoy it.

2. Playing Dum Sheras will also help. Instead of typical movie names, give some famous thoughts for them to act.

3. Conduct a rapid fire / quiz about company activities, operations, history, vision, mission like questions and gift the winners. Such an activity will ensure they are updated with past and current company affairs.

4. Start monthly / quarterly birthday celebrations with cake and snacks. Invite positive comments from team members of the birthday boy or girl.

Hope this will help you.

With best regards,

Dear Anagha,

Greetings ........

Step - 1

1. In a classroom atmosphere gather all who are attending training (not more then 10 at a time) and tell them that this is going to be a session correcting each other mutually without making mockery of one another. All Trainees must carry a Pad and a Pen with him.

2. Call on person to the podium and give him a news paper (preferably "The Hindu") and ask him to read any article published aloud so that others could listen and ask the rest of the class to take note of Pronunciations, Punctuations, Proclamations, Pitch and Performance of the Reader.

3. The Reading Session should continue for 15/20 mins and thereafter the other participants be given time for 15/20 mins to correct those 5Ps of (2) above and help their friends to correct himself.

4. This process should continue each day with a NEW Reader and rest as audience till all get atleast 5/7 Sessions each to Read and correct others.

5. Continue similar Sessions for 10 other candidates on the later part of the same day.

Target training 20 persons as above in 1.5 months time. You and your Management would surely notice that the Candidates have shrugged off "shyness" and are communicating a lot better.

Step - 2

1. Take these 20 Candidates up to Step -2 and Start a Game of "Role Play".

2. In one go chose any 2 of them and choose a Topic for them to start a discussion. For example, let one play role of a "Sales Manager" and the other a "Manager - Logistics". While the Sales Manager wants some material be delivered to some Retailer within given time and wants the other man to support his assignment". The operation fails and they meet their after. One can imagine the fireworks in discussion.

3. Let 10 pairs practice "role playing" same day and continue these sessions for 5 days.

Step - 3

1. Ask all of them to draft written correspondences of "built-up imaginary situation" and read it in the class for others to contribute "chosen words" to make the draft more effective. All classroom participants must get a chance each day,

2. Continue such sessions for 7 days.

With above, I am sure you would be able to produce 20 trained Communicators to your Company.

You can go with GDs, quizzes and games to make sure the sessions are more interesting at the same time useful with the necessary feed to the employees.
