Hi all Seniors!
I've a query here. Hope any of the seniors would kindly clarify my below query.
"We had recently supplied the ID cards for our employees. The employees attended the office wearing ID cards hardly for a few days! No employee showed interest in wearing the ID cards and now they have completely stopped using the ID cards that was supplied to them.
So, I want to circulate a Memo to all employees informing that wearing of ID cards is mandatory and every employee shall attend the office wearing the ID Card.
My question is....
1) Can I advise our employees that wearing of ID cards is really compulsary and that it has been made mandatory?
2) What is the exact PURPOSE & SIGNIFICANCE of providing ID Cards to the employees?""
Senior HR Peers kindly clarify me at the earliest, since I've to circulate the memo very soon.
Thanks & best Regrds

Dear Ambersalem
Hi...
The following are the importance / significance of ID cards
1. ID cards are normally worn as an identification mark indicating dat u are a employee of the this company.
2. It also helps in differentiation people as employees and visitors, so that all unauthorised persons are kept away from certain places/sections in the company.
3. it is also and important aspect of Security and integrity of the company
4. if employees stay in office long mid night hours Police may interrogate him while he/she in return in midnights from office where ID card is a good purpose to show that he engaged in office works!
5. Employee Id cards mostly useful for opening bank accounts/Mobile connection/etc...Where ID card has much more power it markets about organization.

Hi,
I am justa beginner. But hope I can makesome guesses.
1. Id card, is the first essential token to show ur society about company and the employee.
2. In case of emergencies are if you fell unsick in deserted areas, people can immediately contact ur wellwishers.
3. It serves as a document or a proof, with your photo identity, which may be used to verify aspects of a person.
4. Id card serves as the way of differentiating and identifying people easily.
For ex: when the company is located in a it park, the security guards, need not take much time to allow us inside the campus.

I think the main role of an ID card is for identification. Its mainly for security purposes, also for entry into premises, check in check out timing registration, sometimes concessions are offered by employers too....i am new forgive me for such little info...

Here comes the culture and required culture can not be made over night.
As generally percieved THIS IS NOT AN IMPORTANT ISSUE
but the same is one of the yardstick to measure MORALE & MOTIVATION.
Workmen are more likely to FORGET carrying the ID cards compared with executives ( Nature of job / style of leaving, etc ).
But should not be punished for not carrying ( Even a Memo )
Try educating,
The workforce is a MIX ( Not alike, and india is a diversified country )
Cheers

Dear
ID card is nothing but a passport to enter into an organization.
Main purpose being security aspect of the company, without ID no body should be allowed inside the company, Employee's loyalty and integrity also counts in wearing ID Badge. In my company initially employees were reluctant to wear ID Badge, we issued 2-3 circulars asking them to wear, waited for fewdays when there is no good expected response we instructed security officer not to allow any employee irrespective of his level/category. Then slowly things started improving. We put a Board at Punch Clock which works as a reminder " DO YOU HAVE ID CARD ? "
All this takes time but surely , a tough, fair and firm policy will work wonders
HOpe you could get something out of my own experience

Why dnt you try linking the I Card with the Attendence System...Introduce it as an "Acess Card" to them. Get the attendance software installed at the entry itself and link it to the daily attendance record...Am sure this would solve most part of your problem...

Dear Amber,
Most of our friends have given very valuable suggestions / inputs. First of all the employees should feel proud of wearing the ID card of the company from which they are getting their bread and butter.
As one of our friend told you should have barcoding system on the back of the ID cards which is going to be a attendance swiping card / door lock decoding to enter in to their section / entry at security / entry in to company provided transport / identification or swiping at canteen to get his lunch / breakfast/ dinner or at vending machines so that people will carry.
I opine that all your line managers / senior management are not interested / not wearing, if they are interested by this time it would have been regularized. Concentrate on HODs then things will move in a right direction.
