Hi Rajeev,

Thank you so much! I am sure this presentation is going to be of great help. However, I am looking for something that talks more about the British way of talking. Also, if I could get something with audio clips (to hear the accent).

Dear CV,

I had crafted this PowerPoint presentation with the help of my team's contribution four years ago. I am using it without speaker notes as I know what the next word will be. But anyway, I think if you use this presentation in its current form, it will yield good results.

Dear Mr. Rajeev,

First of all, thanks for a very wonderful PPT. It will be very helpful for everyone. I'm a student and I tried to put the word documents and PPTs as you instructed, like going to insert > comment, but I could not do that. How did you add the word documents and PPTs? Could you please help me with that?

Thanks

Dear Rajeev,

You are an amazing man! Great information, and thank you very much for sharing this with us. I don't think we missed anything pertaining to pronunciation at all.

I am working on training a set of people who are having problems in creating these sounds:
- /s/
- /sh/
- /z/
- /zuh/
- aw sound

Can you help with any tips or exercises? I appreciate your help in advance.

Hi Rajeev,

I am presently working on developing a module on "Essential Business English" for supervisors in a Finance profile. I plan to cover business terminology during conference calls, effective use of business vocabulary, negotiation, assertiveness, etc. Do you think you could help me with any material on this?

Thanks,

Hi,

I believe that developing a good voice and accent comes through practice rather than attempting to learn word by word. If someone practices seriously for an hour, speaking loudly and confidently, they can make a difference the next day. It is helpful to identify difficult words, create a list, and practice them using a good pronunciation dictionary.

If you are interested, my email address is mawasi_372@yahoo.com.

Thank you!

Wow, it is really a great contribution, Rajeev. Just wanted to know how a person can become a voice and accent trainer. Are there any certified courses available for the same? If you can assist with this, Shruti.

Thanks & Regards

Dear Shruti,

If you have a good command over English and know the basic rules of grammar with no mother tongue influence, meaning a neutral accent, then you can consider becoming a V&A trainer. It requires practice, practice, and more practice. Basic classes on V&A will certainly be helpful.

Rajeev

Hello Rajeev,

That's wonderful material for VnA that you and your team have put together. I have been training people on VnA for over 2 years; however, I never used a PPT for it. It seems like a good guideline during training. Could you please send me the Word docs and Excel sheets embedded within? I would really like to take a look at them. Right now, the links cannot be accessed.

You can send them to OR .

Voice and accent training these days focuses on teaching you to have a neutral accent and educating you about the nuances of the country's accent so that you can better understand the person on the call.

I clicked on Cecil Berry and found links to JenniferESL's presentation on Lear Pronunciation of English Vowel Sounds at Learn Pronunciation of English Vowel Sounds 1 - Introduction - YouTube. However, one comment stood out: "There is nothing like a Standard English Accent; people have different accents in different parts of England, Scotland, and Wales."

You are so right; we were trained on Accent Neutralisation. You are correct about the differences as the training for Queen's English and BBC English used to be entirely different. The content that was shared during those training sessions isn't available on YouTube or Vimeo.
