Find out whether you have a security/privacy policy in place which you must have and what acts are defined by it as breach of security. Though the information is not shared with any outsider, investigate into the motives for uploading the details to find out whether it is a mere act of ignorance or an act of excessive jeal or a deliberate one so as to ascertain breach of trust and if so how serious would have been the security breach in terms of money/financial loss or business implications and reputation and image of the organisation Breach of security may be incidental or intentional.The latter involves breach of trust which has considerable bearing on the retention of employee in the organisation.You need to take into consideration all these factors when an act of an employee warrants extreme act of termination to balance the individual interests i.e career and livelihood and that of the organisation.i.e probable financial and business risks.
