Dear Sir,
Please let me know if professional tax is applicable in Jharkhand. If not, please provide a notification because I have been working for a Mumbai-based company, and every month the company deducts professional tax from my salary. Kindly suggest or provide the necessary information.
Regards,
Debasish

Dear Debasish,
As mentioned earlier, there is no Professional Tax (PT) for Jharkhand. There is no official notification either because the government has not implemented it. Since you work for a Mumbai-based company, the payroll is aligned with Mumbai's regulations, and the company might be deducting PT based on Maharashtra's slab. Please inform your HR department that PT should not be deducted for employees based in Jharkhand or any of the northern states.
