Dear Sir/Mam,

I'm Rabi, from MHROD- 2nd Semester, Delhi School of Economics. I'm doing my summer project on a topic named "Benchmarking competencies in different functional jobs in leading Indian IT and ITES companies."

I have identified few corporates like you whose inputs I believe is very important in successful completion of this project.

I understand the value of your precious time and I assure you it will not take more than 5 minutes of yours.

More over the results of this survey will be made available to all the respondents.

You can fill the questionnaire and send it across through e mail on the same ID only or I can come over to your office to conduct the interview personally as per your convenience.

I sincerely hope that you will help me in taking my first step in the corporate world.

Regards & Thanks,

Hi Rabi,

This is a humble suggestion in connection with your query.

I have gone through your query and seen the Word document. Here are a few suggestions that may increase responses from fellow HR practitioners. I have included a sample MS Excel sheet which you may open for your reference.

1. Do not list all 25 competencies at once. Less than 0.1% of practitioners will be able to remember all the actual competencies in use. You may use the format of the Excel sheet as in the 'competencies' tab, which I tried to translate as per your Word format.

2. In your Word document on Page 3, if a person wishes to enter a response for your Q. No. 7, the formatting will get distorted. Probably that can be made simpler using Excel, Sheet 1 - Basic Info - Contact Details field, for example.

3. Please consider revising the format and individual questions. The issue with a typical HR practitioner is too much paperwork. If you can make it simpler and more interesting, people will respond. For example, instead of asking, "Can you list some training measures you follow if you find gaps in various predetermined competencies? (Please write them as shown in the box)," write it as (example) "Training measures used after Competency Gap Analysis." A common man would appreciate simplicity, wouldn't they?

I have just shared my own experiences with you. Please feel free to alter, modify, and use the Excel sheet for your purpose. I hope you have received my feedback (in Word format only).

Would you mind if I ask about the upcoming (broad) areas of research available in DSE as of now? I have completed MA in Econometrics and then Masters in HR from a Central University of India. I would be thankful if you could help me with that.

Best regards,

Thesysthink
