In COVID-19, my company asked me to leave with a month's notice. I resigned on March 30th, and April 30th was my last working day. However, my company deducted 75% of my salary during that time without any prior information. They have not shared any email or verbal communication with me. Please suggest if it is allowed for the company to deduct the salary without any information. Can I take any legal action against the company?

Though some percentage of salary reduction is widely seen all over the country, deduction without prior intimation is unethical and unacceptable. On top of it, the coercion to resign is unjustifiable. Even the Supreme Court advised employers and employees to negotiate the terms during the lockdown periods. The legal option, though one among many, is certainly not a workable solution given the uncertainties prevailing even among the courts and governments. I understand and share the agony of the difficulties you are pushed into, resulting in truncated compensation and loss of job, a twin assault. However, quick remedies are far-fetched. Why don't you meet and get them to the negotiating table and try to gain whatever could be possible as immediate relief.
