I am a Law Faculty Registrar. Most of the academic staff are more interested in looking for cases in the law court than in spending time with the students. I need to organize a motivation workshop for the academic staff to inspire them to put in their maximum effort for the success of the students.

Are you from India or from some other country? If the faculties are more interested in looking for cases in the law court, there is nothing wrong as such. They need to have exposure to actual live sessions. Faculty in a management school or engineering college hardly visits any company. Whenever I spoke with management faculties, I found them in their own world or out of sync with the current industry trends. In contrast, your case is different, so why not use it to your advantage?
Let them visit the courts; however, give them a target that each faculty must create one case study per month or quarter. Case studies may be devised by a group of faculties as well. These case studies should be related to some act or law and could be in the form of a written document or presentation. When faculties give presentations, take videos of them. Preserve the videos for future sessions. Secondly, ensure that these case studies are intellectual properties of your law school. The distribution of the case study outside of the law school is prohibited. Nevertheless, faculties will have their names in the case study.
If it suits you, then tell the faculties to take the law students to the court as well. Let the students take notes on the live sessions of the court. Later, the faculty can organize a follow-up meeting on the visit.
In addition to the case studies, the faculties may create snippets on how to behave in court, the psychology of the judges, and where the lawyers go wrong, etc.
Through case studies, your law school will generate knowledge assets. You may know that knowledge assets never depreciate. If you ban their visits to the courts, they may become further demotivated. Give an award to the faculty for the best case study of the year. The faculty who does not create any case study may have their marks deducted in the annual performance appraisal.
Please brainstorm on the above points with the management personnel. I hope this idea will work well.
