Managing PF Wages and Deductions: Insights on Employee Benefits and Compliance - CiteHR

My company wrongly treated my gross salary as PF wages and deducted 12% from the gross, i.e., 20,000, resulting in a deduction of 2,400. Now, can we change the PF wages to 6,500 and apply a 12% PF deduction, i.e., 780? Is this possible? Please let me know.

Every month, I am paying 2,400 instead of 780. Please advise me on how to resolve this issue.

Nothing wrong in paying more PF. Acually employees are more benefitted instead of paying pf limiting to Rs. 780/-

If you want to reduce your PF Wages. Submit Formal Letter to RPFC and contribute 0nly PF Basic salary only. Suresh

It is not a problem. There is no need for a formal letter to the RPFC. From next month onwards, you can deduct only 780 from 6500/-. Even if the amount is more, it will be credited to your PF account only.

I had discussed with the PF Enforcement Officer at Chennai, and he advised me not to reduce the PF wages. That is, once a person declares the PF wages as Rs. 20,000 and pays 12% PF for that value [Rs. 2,400], it will not be reduced in the future.

Please let me know if this answer is correct or not.

According to me, you need not pay the amount of ESIC for Rs. 20,000 from the next month onwards. The only thing is that the amount already paid will not be refunded. Moreover, there is no law that every time the PF has to be paid on the Rs. 20,000. The PF amount has to be paid on the salary which the employee receives at the end of the month.
