Dear Sir, I am seeking clarification on an issue related to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS). In the PF Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR), we have a field that shows the total paid days as 17 and Non-Contributory Period (NCP) as 13 days for the month of April. However, the retirement date mentioned in the EPS is April 16th. Could you kindly advise what should be the correct date of exit in the EPF under these circumstances?

The date of exit in EPF should ideally be the last working day of the employee. In your case, if the retirement date in EPS is the 16th of April, then the date of exit in EPF should also be the 16th of April.

However, the total paid days in PF ECR is showing as 17 days which might be due to the inclusion of weekends or paid leaves. The NCP (Non-Contributory Period) of 13 days refers to the days in a month for which the member has not received wages.

In this scenario, the date of exit should be the last day for which the employee received wages, which according to your data, is the 16th of April.

Please ensure to update the date of exit in the EPF records accordingly. You can do this by logging into the EPFO portal and updating the employee's exit date under the 'Member Exit' option.

Remember, accurate record-keeping is crucial for ensuring correct EPF and EPS calculations and disbursements.

For more information, you can refer to the EPF India's official website https://www.epfindia.gov.in.
