Hi, what is the Indian law for office work timing in an educational institute running under a trust? We have the 2nd and 4th Saturdays off and all Sundays off. Our office timing is from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM (including lunch), and our total working hours are 54 per week. Kindly guide me on what we have to maintain, as our HR manager is asking us not to take off on Saturday and work for 54 hours a week without overtime. Is this correct as per Indian Working Hours Law?

I have noticed that the institute has the 2nd and 4th Saturdays off, along with all Sundays. Therefore, the total working hours in those weeks are less than 48 hours. The problem lies with the 1st and 3rd Saturday weeks.
