I want to know, in case suicide is done by the PF account holder whether his family members will be entitled to EDLI amount & family pension under the PF scheme or not?

Hi, In case an employee commits suicide, his/her nominee is eligible for EDLI and other benefits provided the employee fulfills the following criteria and was in service until the date of death.
Eligibility for EDLI Benefits
"The benefit payable under paragraph 22(3) of the EDLI scheme shall be extended to such beneficiaries where the deceased employee was a member of the fund or a provident fund exempted under section 17 of the EPF & MP Act and was in employment for a continuous period of 12 months preceding the month in which he died, irrespective of the change of establishment during the said period."
