Fuel Efficiency and Maintenance Costs

Usually, standard bikes run 40–45 km per liter if the bike is 5 years or older. There is also some maintenance cost. Organizations may consider 1 liter for every 30 km run. We have one MNC client who is paying for 1 liter per 25 km run, including maintenance, to their employees.

Dear Cite HR Member, Our Forum Expert, Shri S.K. Bandyopadhyay, has provided a comprehensive outline for calculating bike running expenses. However, to ensure fairness and motivation for employees, it is suggested to include 50% of the admissible depreciation and 5% of the standard maintenance charges as normal overhead to account for miscellaneous/emergency maintenance expenses.
