Hi All, There was a long-standing criterion by many big companies in India where a candidate must have 15 years of full-time education. I have tried myself at a few of the big companies where my first call becomes the last call for that position, even though I am certain that I am fully equipped for what that position demands. I am a CA FINAL student with a B.Com from IGNOU.

Changing Education Systems in India

Now we are in a position where almost all of the education systems in India have become distance learning, and moreover, a lot of students (X/X+2) were promoted even without any exams. Does anyone think that this completely nullifies the 15 years of full-time education requirement as we move along? Will big companies change their recruitment policies?

The Importance of Hard Work for CA Final Students

You are a CA final student. Work really hard and try to clear it; then it doesn't matter whether you did B.Com as a regular student or through correspondence. I personally know individuals working in Big 4 firms with a similar background.

Dear Sajid, you are correct to some extent; many industries do not emphasize candidates with qualifications from distance education, but this is not true as a whole. The candidate's knowledge of the subject and their ability to deliver are what matter to an organization, not whether they attended a day or night college or took a correspondence course.

It has been observed that, except for a few cases, most candidates with correspondence courses fall below the requirements because they pursue the courses just to obtain a certificate. The unemployment situation in our country is so dire that HR personnel screen candidates based on the reputation of the universities or colleges they attended.

In my opinion, you need not worry; instead, focus on how soon you can become a Chartered Accountant (CA). Big companies are open to recruiting CAs.

Thank you.
