I joined the company in September 2019, and my probation period was for 6 months until last month, i.e., March 2020. I informed my employer in March that I wanted maternity leave starting from the 25th of July. However, they informed me that they couldn't afford the cost, and therefore, I was not eligible for maternity leave. Additionally, they are withholding my confirmation letter because I am pregnant. I am unsure of what actions to take in this scenario. My performance has been up to the mark, yet my employer is refusing to provide me with the confirmation letter and maternity leave solely due to my pregnancy.

Have you informed in writing with a medical certificate? If not, do it immediately. The company cannot ask you to leave by denying confirmation. If they persist in trying to remove you, think of visiting the Labor Officer of the area with your problem.

Yes, I have already informed the HR in writing, for which earlier they have agreed and asked me to submit a leave application. However, when I submitted the leave application, my reporting manager (A.V.P.) rejected my leave by stating, "You are supposed to resign on 1st May '2020". What should I do now?

What is your last date of probation? The burden lies with management if the management has not sent you any communication regarding confirmation on or before the completion of the probation period. As per the law and rules, your job is deemed to be confirmed.

You should lodge a complaint with all relevant documents before the labor authority of your place of establishment immediately.
