Dear Sirs,

One of our female staff members joined on January 1, 2017, and has been working as a probationary employee for a one-year period. She continued working until her 8th month of pregnancy and is now requesting maternity leave starting from September 1st. Could you please confirm if she is eligible to receive this benefit?

Thank you.

Probation or permanent nature of the job is not a relevant criterion for maternity leave. Since she has completed the minimum required number of days of service, she is entitled to the maternity benefits, including leave.

Dear Manish,

As per Mr. Umakanthan, any employee who has worked for a minimum of 80 days before the date of pregnancy in any organization is entitled to maternity leave benefits. Therefore, the said employee is entitled to the same.

Thank you.
