I'm working with an IT company for the last 4 months. Since the starting month of joining, I'm facing problems related to the employees' salaries. Being a fresher, I don't have an idea how to deal with this situation. I have heard that the company has changed all its staff four times in 11 months. When I tried to hire people for my company, I always received negative responses from candidates. The company is also not paying employees using the right market strategy and, finally, blaming employees (giving a reason that they did nothing in production) and then dismissing them without paying their salaries. I know this is a wrong practice, and I am still trying to convince candidates to join the company. I'm confused; please help me with what to do in this situation.

Clarification of Ms. Priya's Issue

I am reproducing your problem here in a clearer manner so that others can better understand and provide suggestions. Ms. Priya has been working in an IT company for the last 4 months. She is frequently encountering issues regarding the payment of salaries to employees. Being a fresher, she does not know how to deal with this problem.

Her main issue is that her organization is not paying salaries properly to employees and is engaging in unethical practices such as blaming employees for poor performance even when they have worked well, potentially to avoid paying their salaries. When she recruits people for job openings, candidates often provide negative feedback about the organization and are hesitant to join due to these issues. Despite her efforts to convince people to join, she is facing challenges.

Currently, she is in a state of confusion and seeks your suggestions on how to address this issue.

It is indeed a difficult situation for a trainee to address the issue. However, I would suggest going for it and rectifying it. Some of my suggestions are:

Talk with Management

- Talk with your management and make them understand that due to this practice, negative branding of the organization is growing in the labor market and related sectors.

Impact on Workforce

- Also, explain that frequently changing the workforce will lead to insecurity among the existing workforce, which will indeed affect the effectiveness of the people and the organization.

Sit down and note all the things you have observed that need course correction. Then, talk with your boss and explain the issues and their outcomes. Discuss this with your mentor in the field; they can advise you on how to deal with these types of issues.

I appreciate your initial effort in asking for suggestions in this forum. Please consider all suggestions and correct the issues.

With regards,
Mr. Thumbs Up

Ethical Policy and Recruitment Analysis

The issue is related to the ethical policy of your organization. You should collect the data based on the replies given by the candidates. Secondly, prepare a detailed report of the expenses your organization is incurring on recruitment. This data should be tabulated to display the cost of recruitment and the impact on the company's image, including the percentage of candidates refusing to join the organization with reasons. You can use this data and information to convince management or policymakers to consider amendments to the existing policy.

Thirdly, you need to collect information on how much productivity is lost due to frequent employee turnover and present this data alongside other statements. Your employer may reflect on these facts and consider changing their perspectives.

Additionally, try to determine how many valuable employees have been lost due to unfair practices within a specific timeframe.

If an organization aims to grow rapidly, it is crucial to be fair and transparent with employees. Simultaneously, management should acknowledge that employees are assets who can deliver results if treated respectfully.

With your efforts, you may influence and improve the work ethics within your management.
