I am a fresher and have joined a job two months back. I am yet to be confirmed in the job. Due to some urgent family crisis, I need to resign from the job and go back home. I have sent my resignation to my Boss in Mumbai, India, and he did not respond. I have sent a reminder email, yet received no reply. I am totally confused. Please advise. The matter is urgent and critical.

Have you got a local boss where you work? What formality does your appointment letter state for exit before confirmation? Instead of mail, send your boss a letter by Speed post giving your request to leave by -----(date) due to family circumstances. Is your boss not available on the telephone??

Hello Ankkurshah,

Did you speak to your boss—locally or in Mumbai—before mailing your resignation? Like Nathrao queried, what does your Appointment Letter say about the resignation process?

Dear Ankur Shah,

First, speak to your local boss. Then, pick up the phone and dial your Mumbai boss's number. Next, speak with your local HR and also with your Mumbai HR. Speak, I repeat, speak with them – it will save you a lot of trouble.
