Hi All, Our company is planning for the annual outing and half-yearly team dinner, and management wants to include it in the Human Resource policy document as a policy. Our Quality Head suggested naming it "Team Building," but I don't think that is the right term to use. I prefer naming it "Employee Engagement and Recreational Program" or "Employee Enrichment Program."

Request for Suggestions

Can anyone please suggest a name, and can we refer to this as a policy? Please suggest.

Thanks in advance,

Pradeepthi.

Policy Framework for Employee Engagement

A policy is a broader framework of plans on a particular matter. Here, your company wants to increase employee engagement and therefore plans to include picnics and get-togethers as a way of boosting morale and fostering interaction on a social basis.

There are several such extra activities that can be planned, such as games, hiking, etc. Instead of restricting the employee engagement activities to specific actions like outings or picnics, you can state that the company aims to enhance relationships, deepen employee engagement, and include special activities in the program.

A policy decision can be made to integrate employee engagement activities as part of the company routine.

You may name it as "Associate Engagement Fund." Otherwise, you may name it as Monthly/Quarterly Party.

Employee Engagement and Recreational Program

"Employee Engagement and Recreational Program" seems good. Anyway, it's just a fancy name for "Team Building." Keep this for the annual outing, and consider something different for the half-yearly dinner. Maybe separate policy sections would help keep these two events detached from each other.

But if you make it a policy, then it has to be followed every year at defined intervals. It will be audited, and compliance with all your quality norms (ISO, OHSAS, etc.) will have to be considered in planning these events.

By the way, it's a very good initiative, and such "engagement and recreational programs" need to be really considered in policies. Congrats on initiating it in your organization.

Best Regards,
Amod Boabde.

You can name it as Team building by including some events or make it as a town hall meeting for prrsentong the recognized personnel for their participation in the respective departments growth.
