Dear All, Here is a news clipping on the captioned subject (PTI 29.01.2015):

Introduction of Special Corporate Office by EPFO

In a bid to provide prompt services to big employers in the organized sector, the retirement fund body has opened the first Special Corporate Office (SCO) at its regional office in Bandra, Mumbai. The first special office of the Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) was inaugurated by the Labor Minister, Bandaru Dattatreya, at Bandra, as per an official statement.

Purpose and Functionality of the SCO

EPFO has introduced the concept of a special office with a view to provide prompt service to a large chunk of its subscribers who are employed with select big firms covered under its purview and contributing a significant amount as provident fund dues. As many as 16 firms have been selected for inclusion in the special office at Bandra. The SCO is not a separate office but a sub-office of the existing Regional Office, enjoying functional autonomy to achieve its stated objectives. EPFO plans to open more SCOs in other regional offices, particularly in metropolitan cities.

Efforts for Improved Service Delivery

With this initiative, EPFO is making efforts to provide services to stakeholders, especially employees, in the minimum possible time. While inaugurating the SCO, Mr. Dattatreya lauded the EPFO for taking this initiative to bring about greater subscriber satisfaction. He mentioned that this is the latest in a series of measures taken in the recent past to improve the services offered by the EPFO.

Technical Collaboration for E-Governance

He further elaborated that the EPFO has engaged CDAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing), Pune, as the technical consultant for ushering in e-governance in all spheres of work.
