Dear Ahshanur, I am pursuing PGDBA in Operations, and as part of the last semester, I have to submit a project report based on the following topic:
Six Sigma Methodology
Six Sigma is a philosophy aimed at improving customer satisfaction by eliminating and preventing defects, thus increasing business profitability. It follows the DMAIC approach - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control.
Define: Identify the problem or project goals that need to be addressed.
Measure: Quantify the problem and the process that led to it.
Analyze: Examine data and processes to identify root causes of defects and opportunities for improvement.
Improve: Enhance the process by implementing solutions to rectify, reduce, and prevent future issues.
Control: Establish and maintain the improvements to ensure the process follows the new course.
While aiming for perfection at 99.999%, it is crucial to note that achieving this level may indicate an unacceptable margin of error.
In the context of Six Sigma, here are some key points to consider:
• Choose your project heading wisely.
• Collaborate with colleagues to gather diverse inputs.
• Assess project risks and potential impacts through discussions with colleagues.
• Follow the DMAIC framework for your project - Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control.
I have successfully completed a Six Sigma project titled "To prepare patient rooms within 5 minutes." It may seem daunting, but rest assured, it is manageable.
