Hi, I am Shashi. I am a maths graduate and am now pursuing HR management out of my own interest. However, when in interviews someone asks me why HR after maths, I do not become able to satisfy them. Can anybody help me in this regard? In what way can an interviewer be satisfied?

Hi Shashi,

I think the answer to this lies within you rather than people giving you a quick fix solution to it. I believe one's choice of specialization always has a background.

I suggest you introspect on your reasons, and you shall find a suitable answer to this question.

Hi,

I can help you a little bit here. In times of an interview, if people ask why HR after math, then you can tell them that you like math. You pursued that course and then transitioned to HR to secure a good job. Be sure to emphasize that you are now fully dedicated to HR and have been learning all the core HR subjects. After your response, they may inquire about important aspects of HR. At that moment, you should be prepared to answer their questions.

Hi Shashi,

I believe it may be a good combination to have math skills with HR. I say that this skill may work in the field of HRM. People who have graduated in Maths may be able to think analytically and can bring different solutions in a good possible way as they are accustomed to playing with numbers.

HR is all about reducing gaps and creating bridges between employers and employees. Therefore, as an HR person, you have to be very calculated when dealing with people.

Hope it works! :)
