Compliance of STPI Companies with Shops & Establishment Act and Labor Laws - CiteHR

Should a company registered under STPI also register under the TN Shops & Establishment Act? What registrations should be followed? Should any inspections be done by Labour Inspectors? We are registered under ESI & P.F.

Kindly advise me on any additional registrations needed.

Thanks,

There is no provision to exempt the STPI registered unit from registration under the S&E Act or under the Factory Act. There is no exemption for STPI registered units from inspection by the Labour Department. Your second question is not clear to me.

Your question has already been answered. However, it seems you are looking for an answer that would suit you. Such denials or self-denials do not entitle you to any exemption from registration. The picture cannot get clearer than this - a factory needs to be registered under the Factories Act. An establishment/shop needs to be registered under the Shops & Establishment Act. Accordingly, other applicable registrations have to be made, whether for EPF or ESI. Also, all other forms, registers, and returns need to be periodically filed. STPI provides certain benefits and concessions on taxes, etc.; however, they do not provide any exemptions or escape from the provisions of the various Labour Acts. Hope the above is clear and unambiguous.

Warm regards.
