Hello sir/madam, This is Shanker, and I have a total of 4 years and 6 months of experience in the BPO and ITES sector with exposure to both international and domestic (Voice and Non-Voice combined). I have all the credentials for my experience. My previous job was in a BPO non-voice technical process. While working there, I also conducted training in my Networking field. Currently, I am serving my notice period for my present company. I am looking to shift fields from the BPO sector to either IT Admin or IT hardware field. Will my technical experience be considered as regular experience for the admin department? Will I encounter any issues when transitioning to the IT sector given that all my previous experience is in the BPO field? I need advice and valuable suggestions. I will be waiting for instructions.

Thanks and Regards in advance.

Firstly, thank you for your response. I noticed that you suggested keeping a 1-year experience requirement if I am transitioning into IT hardware. However, all my experience lies in technical departments, involving various processes such as troubleshooting and resolving technical issues. Although my background is primarily in the BPO sector, I seek advice on whether there might be any obstacles when applying for new positions in the technical field.

Thanks

Regards

I'm in the same situation as Shanker, just that I have experience in Customer Service (voice) for 2 years, have a good performance record, and have received appreciations from clients. Now, I'm trying to move into IT. I'm a BCA graduate, I've done a short-term course in manual testing, and I'm looking for an IJP (internal job posting). My query is how should I deal with questions like:

1. Why am I changing my field when I have a good record? (I'm changing my job to be in a relevant field as per my academics and to have better job prospects.)
2. Why did I not consider IT before joining BPO? (My reason was I had low grades in my 12th)

How can I explain the above questions in a better way?

Competency-Based Question on Career Transition

This is a kind of competency-based question that is related to personal experiences. However, you can say that you were not qualified or ready for the IT position at the time you joined the company. Now, as you have gained the potential to lead your career in the IT sector, you are confident enough that you will achieve better records in this field of IT. Indeed, you must be confident enough to present yourself in an unaffected way to switch or adapt to this change in your career.
