Your query was not clear. Which type of sheet are you planning to remove—Polycarbonate sheets, Aluminum sheets, FRP, Galvanized sheets, etc.? Are you removing the sheets from a Pre-Engineering Building (PEB) or something else? What is the height of the building?

Thank you for your reply. If I may be precise, we are planning to remove the existing Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP). We have installed a new one, and for the retrofit work, we will be dismantling some of the major components in the existing ESP. When I mention 'Sheet,' I am referring to GI sheets used for weather enclosure. The height of the ESP stands at around 45 meters.

I agree with Mr. Raghu. You need to give some more details like the size and height of the structure to be dismantled, the type of roofing sheets to be dismantled, etc.
However, we have recently changed from Asbestos Sheets to Galvalume Clip-on type roofing sheets with insulation. The top height was approximately 14.0 meters. Attached are a few photographs of the work. We used a safety net while dismantling as well as during the new erection of sheets. The net was tied in such a way that EOT crane operation was possible. The work was completed without even a minor accident. Only one near miss of falling objects was reported. The shop floor activities down below were not disturbed at all.
Tips for Dismantling Work
1. Start the dismantling from the top using Safety Belts, Helmets, and other required PPEs depending on specific hazards.
2. Put up a barrier so that the dust does not spread to other areas.
3. Spray water to avoid the generation of dust.
4. Shift debris immediately after the work.
5. Switch off / Take out the electrical wires and other utilities if any. The scaffolding should be rigid. Do not use Bamboo scaffolds.
6. The platform should have fall arrest railings.
7. The workmen on the ground should use safety goggles.
8. Barricade the area so that entry to unwanted people is restricted.
9. If concrete is to be dismantled, take care if Reinforcement Steel is to be cut by the Gas Cutting method.
10. Use proper anchoring points if required. It is advised to check the strength of the points where anchoring is to be done.
11. Conduct Daily Safety Toolbox Meetings.
You may add suitable instructions depending on your specific hazard identification, which is expected before the commencement of the work.

2. Use construction lifts to bring the removed sheets down. If these are to be lowered by rope, ensure they are lowered using the best engineering controls.
3. Issue work permits and ensure that the workmen do not have a height phobia problem.
