Is it legally mandatory that the date of the relieving letter should be the same as the relieving date, or can the relieving letter be issued on any later date after the completion of all formalities?

On the last working day, the employee completes all the handing over formalities and submits a 'no due' certificate, based on which the company will complete the full and final settlement formalities. The relieving letter should be issued on the last working day upon completion of all handing over formalities.
The employee will demand this because if the company asks for something else at a later date, he/she may not be in a position to respond. The service certificate can be provided at a later date, but it is preferable to issue the relieving letter on the last working day.
In some companies, on the last working day, they issue the relieving letter, service certificate, and cheque for the full and final settlement amount. This demonstrates the professional status of the company because generally, every employee is on a minimum of one month notice period, and by the time of relieving, the company can complete/compute all the related matters of the outgoing employee. Therefore, on the last working day, the management arranges a farewell session, during which the HOD/Unit head will hand over the cheque and all other related documents like relieving/service certificates, etc.
