Hi Folks,
I work in a company that is in IT infrastructure management and IT products and service delivery. Since we have many clients who require our services (wherein we deploy our manpower as RE or Sys Admin) for 24/7 environments, in addition to regular compensation, we have decided to pay night allowances to the employees. Industry-wise, there are different players providing different pay slabs as night allowance. Could anyone please suggest what the standard night allowance paid is for entry to senior executive levels?
Please hurry as it's very urgent.
Regards,
Raul.

Hi Raul,
I too work in an organization that has two shifts as we are a BPO catering as a US as back office services for healthcare providers. I feel more than an allowance itself, you could give more fringe benefits to those who work at night. Some of the examples we are looking at are to provide:
1) Unlimited tea and coffee
2) Apart from the dinner that we provide, an additional healthy snack e.g. Banana, crackers
Just a thought, but you could also look at the same situation with overtime calculation. 1.5 times the hourly rate.
Hope this information was useful.
Thanks,
Sue

Hi Raul,
There are no specific standards for night allowance for IT/ITES companies. If possible, WFH could be encouraged. It is left unto the management to decide on that. But a 10% hike in the salary would be motivating, apart from:
(i) pick-up & drop at doorstep
(ii) snacks and refreshments on the desk
(iii) avoiding rotational shifts
(iv) no slogging after the office hours (allotted time)
(v) a few motivating/refreshing games on the floor (as required)
(vi) availability of a supporting staff (HR) on the floor at least once a week along with the Head of the Division (once a week).
Best regards,
Priya
