In Sholay, the leaders are Gabbar Singh and Thakur. One is violent, and the other was aggressive but lost his hands during a face-off with Gabbar. Nevertheless, Thakur was determined to defeat Gabbar. He caught hold of Veeru and Jay. He could motivate them to fight on behalf of him. Veeru and Jay also had sympathy towards Thakur. In the particular case, the subordinates respected their superior because of his handicap.
