Hi,
Why not try to write something on Outsourcing HR functions. Another topic could be Managing change at the time of Mergers and Acquisitions. One more idea could be calculating the worth of HR function in the organization. These can be very new topics and need attention at seminars and conferences on HR. Make a good presentation and do share with us the response. Do some work on any topic, ask for opinions, and then if you need some help, we are all here. 😄
Cheers, Archna

Hi Mallet,
Please suggest some latest HR topics for an HR seminar coming up in the month of October.
The topics we suggest are:
1. How can HR become a Business Partner?
2. How do we implement Dave Ulrich's model for HR?
3. Future of HR and trends in 2020
4. Competencies of a successful HR professional in today's changing scenario
5. Changing role of HR in times of outsourcing HR functions
6. Do we need HR professionals in today's business? - a debate
7. Did HR exist in medieval times?
Well, thinking about this reminded me of a story about Rabbit. Read on.
It's a fine sunny day in the forest, and a rabbit is sitting outside his burrow, tippy-tapping on his typewriter. Along comes a fox, out for a walk.
Fox: "What are you working on?"
Rabbit: "My thesis."
Fox: "Hmm... What is it about?"
Rabbit: "Oh, I'm writing about how rabbits eat foxes."
Fox: "That's ridiculous! Any fool knows that rabbits don't eat foxes!"
Rabbit: "Come with me, and I'll show you!"
They both disappear into the rabbit's burrow. After a few minutes, gnawing on a fox bone, the rabbit returns to his typewriter and resumes typing.
Soon a wolf comes along and stops to watch the hardworking rabbit.
Wolf: "What's that you are writing?"
Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eat wolves."
Wolf: "You don't expect to get such rubbish published, do you?"
Rabbit: "No problem. Do you want to see why?"
The rabbit and the wolf go into the burrow, and again the rabbit returns by himself after a few minutes and goes back to typing. Finally, a bear comes along and asks, "What are you doing?"
Rabbit: "I'm doing a thesis on how rabbits eat bears."
Bear: "Well, that's absurd!"
Rabbit: "Come into my home, and I'll show you."
Scene: As they enter the burrow, the rabbit introduces the bear to the lion.
Moral:
IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW SILLY YOUR THESIS TOPIC IS; WHAT MATTERS IS WHOM YOU HAVE AS A SUPERVISOR.
Management Lesson in the context of the working world:
IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW BAD YOUR PERFORMANCE IS; WHAT MATTERS IS WHETHER YOUR BOSS LIKES YOU OR NOT.
It's an ironic habit of human beings to run faster when we have lost our way.
Have a great day.

Hi, I'm Rohan doing my M.A. HRM at MSSW. The Students Forum of our department has been conducting bi-annual symposiums "HR SYMPHONY" for the past 3 years on various topics like "Customer-Centric HR," "HR As A Strategic Business Partner," and "Technology As An Enabler to HR." We have planned to conduct our next seminar. Can anyone suggest a few themes and briefly explain your views on the same? It can be any problem confronting the recent scenario or any new dimension of HR. The seminar aims at creating an Industry-Institute interface and giving an opportunity for students from different colleges and corporates a platform to develop and share knowledge. Also, kindly suggest a few relevant and eminent speakers for the topic.
Regards,
Rohan
