Dear All,
One of my friends is working in a small software company as a Corporate Trainer. Recently, he got a government job as a high school teacher in rural parts of Bangalore. Now, he is confused about which one to opt for. Some say that a government job is permanent and provides security for the future, while others say there is no growth and money in the government sector, so it's better to stay in the current company. I need your advice and help.

Well, looking at the current scenario, I don't feel that the private sector provides any lesser rewards and compensation than any of the government jobs for a deserving candidate. Chances for growth are far better in the private sector.
But above all, it is an individual's choice. If he wants job security and is not concerned about growth, this is a very good option for him. Indeed, both things have their advantages and disadvantages, so look into your priorities and decide.

Hi Gururaj,
The decision is completely up to your friend. If he wants to go into academics, he can take up the offer. If he wants to join the corporate bandwagon, then he has to take up the private company's offer.
Choosing a career is more important than deciding on the virtues of job security or better salary. Once you adopt a career, it will be easier to concentrate and improve at whatever your friend is doing from there on. Also, the most important part is his personality and where he would fit in best.

Well, the answer is not very difficult. If you are looking for money, go for a private job, but if you are looking for job security, go for the government sector. And if you are looking for both money, security, and satisfaction, go for the business sector.
