Dear All,
Please help me with the scenario below...
We have HR Manager who is working with this organization since very long. He has created his monopoly.
He doesn't allow any of the HR or Recruiter to understand anything about HR. i.e. How many positions are vacant or what are the salary slab? He just give me data for calling candidates. And i have 3yrs of exp in this industry.
If any jr. trainee is also walk-ing in for any information, he comes ahead and interact with trainee. And this makes me feel, worthless job.
Its a big organization, and i have been promised that i would be in HR after recruitment is over but i see hardly any hope for the same.
Kindly suggest how to take this forward??

Hi Sejal,

I can well understand your scenario and can suggest that there's very less u can do about it. But before jumping to any conclusion lets take a quick review of the situation

Firstly, Can u please confirm me your tenure with the org coz if it is less (which seems to be the case) then give ur manager some time. Managers normally take time to settle n build trust on a particular employee. but dont forget to keep showing ur curiousity to learn n understand the nitty gritties, keep questioning n 1 day u will get the answers

Secondly, if ur not getting the direct support from ur manager then try n learn from alternative channels... like ur fellows, peers.. if u have the access to payroll then do check the current salary of the kind of employee ur looking for.. or if u have the access to personnel files then check the salaries offered previously

Thirdly, compare your organizations stand in the market and develop a rough estimate of what it can offer in comparison to its competitors

Last but not the least, time and patience hold key to many such career blocks. dont think aggressively..

Cheer up!!

Neha,
Thanks for your reply but I would like to mention here that girl who has worked here for 3yrs, she has been facing the same problem so you can understand . :-)
This organizations' impression in market is not good, in fact working hours are 10hrs more / weekly than company laws , on paper and salary offered are extremely less for deserving candidates.
We find lot of problem calling candidates as sometimes, they reply "we would love to change, but not with your organization".
How much time should i give reasonable according to you.

oh ok, i thought u have 3 yrs of exp in some other org though in a same industrial domain. anyhows if u have spent 3 yrs in the same org yet ur manager is behaving like this then i feel that ur making ur life stagnant in here. look for a change n move ahead...
all the best.. there are many greener pastures waiting for u

I am in complete agreement with Neha here. Such People (as your HR) are the victims of false superiority feeling that is accompanied by the self acknowleged sense of insecurity, and hence want to keep their juniors under their thumb.
There is nothing you can do about such fellow. Just relax , take a long breath and start looking for change.

hi,
never teach your boss, it is a genaral quata for the team membars. so do your work as you can do comfortable.
try to get any other option if you can get. and as far as your managar regards use any indirect communcation way to management,
dont take me other wise. every body has differnt managrial skills, if he is good in management eye,s then you dont need to creat any issue for you,
i have done MBA in 2005, my have left my first job aftar the seven month only due to my team membar, she was the girlfriend of my Head HR,and i was not aware with this, and i always takes her side due to my good work and she always jales with me.

Mr. Sharma...
I am also 2005 passed out...you would be surprised to know more facts about this manager that he has not yet given me offer letter or appointment letter and when i have asked for it, i got reply that "what difference does it make?"
I also would like to share that i have submitted my original L.C. and now i feel that I have made a mistake.
Kindly suggest...

Your manager has noticed your potentials and he is afraid others will notice it by you directly interacting with people and delivering services that’s why he keeps you busy with stuff which are not core HR Services therefore your not aware of what is going around. This is just the beginning he will tire one day and start giving u work to take of his shoulder

Hi Sejal, When you feel you are not given due importance in the organization it is the right time to give golden handshake. Do not be stagnant and lost your individuality. Regards Sense
