Dear Seniors,

I run a small organization, and due to a financial crunch, the salary has been delayed for 15 days now. There are a few who have stopped coming to the office, saying they will only join when the salary is paid. But, as per me, this is no way of holding the organization for ransom. I had mentioned to them about the situation. I know the salary is due to them, and I had mentioned that I would pay by this weekend.

Please suggest what should be done in this case.

Hi,

Be patient and try to convince your staff to join immediately. The time is very hard for both employers and employees. So, try to sail through this phase along with faith in your employees and earning employees' faith in you.

Hi,

This is what we call employer and employee relations. Nowadays, all companies are in trouble, and employees' salaries are being delayed due to business problems.
You have to discuss the practical issues with your employees and try to pay them half of the salary. Try to cut down on unwanted costs and create a surplus where you can compensate the same to the employees' salaries.
The present corporate world is not solely in the complete control of any legal, personal, or business trends. Instead, a true employee-employer relationship is the key to success for all, and understanding your employees should be the first priority of an employer.

I think you will have to take your employees into confidence. Show them the path you are going. Tell them what you are planning for the company, the company's vision for the next year at least. Make it clear about your expectations. Clarify that it won't happen next time. Or change the salary dates if you expect your funds to come in late every month. Moreover, this is the best time you'll get to know about the loyalty of your employees, who can stand by you in tough times. But for that again, talk to them, talk to them, and earn their confidence.

Hello,

I have already spoken to them. Their earlier recruiter had also promised them a good path but could not honor the commitment and still has not paid them. This group had left the earlier organization and joined me. My issue is that if I take this attitude of holding the organization at ransom in a very cool manner and still give them a chance, I fear it will set a wrong trend. Please help.
