Hey everyone. I am doing a project on compensation and benefits in an organization. What I am told to be doing here is to review the present compensation process and prepare a handbook for the same. The project doesn't seem to be tough, but I am having difficulty in preparing the scope and methodology for the same. Since there are no questionnaires and research involved, how can I make a methodology for the same.

Please help me out as soon as possible.

You have not given enough information about why the project is being undertaken. For example, is it for an undergraduate degree?

Are you being prohibited from using a questionnaire? If not, you can find out "How the system should work?" in theory (draw a flow chart); do a survey to find out "How it is being practiced?" and then seek suggestions for its improvement.

Well, it is for my Post-Graduation Internship. I am doing a Post-Graduate Program in Management. I am not prohibited from using any questionnaire. However, the project detail the guide has given is to review the compensation process and make a handbook. So, I was thinking of adding how compensation affects employees or a similar topic.

Hi,

Have you done any literature survey and formed your aim and objectives for the survey? You also need a conceptual framework for your research. Have you any hypotheses to test? If so, could you please state that so that you can get a focused answer.

If you have not done any of the above essential preparation for conducting a project, I would advise you to please do so and then pose a precise question.

Please search CiteHr and find my post on Research Methodology (Ppt slides attached).

Hi,

Even though the project didn't seem tough, it's surely a tedious job because when it's feasible in nature, they expect a high amount of efficiency and perfection in the subject. I would advise you that each company differs from the other in the way they pay compensation to their employees, irrespective of sharing the same components in the compensation structure. This will bring you open to practical experience and some additional (primary data i.e., first-hand data) approach to your project. It will also help you to enhance your knowledge.

Even I am working on my project on the "study of compensation structure" (Engineering Industries), which includes collecting compensation data from all deserving engineering industries.
